Bellary Chamber is considered as 2nd Biggest Chamber in Karnataka State in respect of infrastructure, activities and membership.
Introduction:
Bellary was earlier in Madras state. When the states were re-organized based on Languages. Bellary was included in Karnataka during 1953. At that time in the Chairmanship of Late Shri.Guduthur Thimmappa, a well known cotton merchant, “Bellary District Chamber of Commerce & Industry” came into existence on Sunday the 11th October 1953 at 10:00 A.M. at Vijaya Mandira in Bellary. A committee was constituted comprising of Late Shri. B.Seshagiri Rao, B. Com, two Vice Presidents, one Joint Secretary, one Treasurer and 10 members as executive committee members.
After some time, the office was shifted to 1st floor of Shri. Tallam Veeranna Setty’s Shop in Bangalore Road when Shri. Kanagolu Thimmappa was President and Shri. Kolaganahalli Sanna Linganna was Vice President, due to their constant efforts, 50 Cents Land was purchased on 08-06-1966 @ Rs. 7141.52 on K.C.Road from Shri. Siddaiah, Deputy Commissioner for construction of our own building. Later under the Chairmanship of Shri. Kanagolu Thimmappa, Shri. Dharmaveera, Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka inaugurated the construction work on 07-06-1971 Shri. K.T. Hanumanthappa, B.E, served as Hon. Secretary.
For construction of the Building, Merchants and Industrialists of Bellary City liberally donated and a drama was enacted to collect donations under Leadership of Retired D.C. and a resident of Bangalore Shri. K.Bala Naik. During the period from 1971 to 1982, when Shri. Kanagolu Thimmappa, Shri. M.V.Ramana & Shri. J.C.Sunkaiah Guptha were presidents, and with the efforts of Hon. Secretary Shri. K.T.Hanunamanthappa, B.E, and Shri. M.Chandrashekar Choudhury, M.B.A., and Building Committee Chairman, Shri. N.Basappa and all the members of Chamber the Building Construction were successfully completed. Shri. Y. Changalappa as Chairman of Bye- law Committee & Taxation Committee, Shri. V.Ravikumar as Chairman of Industries Committee and Shri. S.Brahamaiah as Chairman of Public Relation Committee have served the Chamber and contributed their might.

*Bellary District Chamber of Commerce & Industry is established in the year 1953.
*The Chamber has now more than 300 distinguished members from all over District.
*The main objectives are to promote and develop trade and industry and bring in unity and integrity among trade and business community.
*Other objectives are to build-up and disseminate information on trade and industry to its members, to provide a forum for business mission from abroad by developing bilateral trade with foreign companies and to sponsor business mission to other countries from time to time and to set up exhibition on trade and business.
*BDCC&I has played a significant role in spreading of Higher Education in Bellary District.
*We have been encouraging the meritorious students every year by felicitating them with merit certificate's and mementos.
*Chamber has celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2003.
*The Chamber is affiliated to FICCI, New Delhi, FKCC&I, Bangalore & KCC&I, Hubli.
*Bellary Chamber News a monthly bulletin is published by the Chamber for the benefit of our members and Traders and Businessmen. It motivates by giving the up-dated trade and industrial information, plans and policies.
Activities of Chamber:
*We have successfully organized and admitted to our Chamber merchants dealing in Cotton, Oil & Oil seeds, Cotton Mills, Iron ore Mining, Granite, Agriculture, weavers, Textiles etc.
*We have strived to solve the problems of our merchants in APMC.
*We have been sending our suggestions for the State & Union Budgets.
*Our representatives have been serving various Government sponsored units like DRUCC, ZRUCC, BSNL’s Advisory Committee, etc.
*This Chamber has struggled for establishment of HKDP (Hyderabad Karnataka Development Committee).
*We are also partly responsible for establishment of Post Graduation Centre at Bellary.
*We have collected donations for the earthquake victims of Lathur (Maharashtra) and Gujarat.
*We have been encouraging the meritorious students in SSLC / PUC / Diploma and various degree examinations by felicitating them.
*We have been arranging Blood Donation Camps & Health Check-up Camps every year.
*We are publishing a monthly Bulletin for the benefit of Members.
*We are running a free Ayurvedic & Homoeo Dispensary for the benefit of poor & middle class people.
Development:
During 1982, construction of 1st phase Building was completed and let-out to Canara Bank Main Branch, Bellary. The construction of 2nd phase of the Building was inaugurated on 22-03-1992 by Shri. Ramoji Rao, well known Industrialist and Chief of Eee Nadu Group of Companies, Shri. M.Ramappa, the Minister of Power, Govt. of Karnataka Presided over the function. Shri. Philip Louis, President, FKCCI, Bangalore and Shri. Hampannavor, President, KCC&I, Hubli were the Chief guests. Shri. Kanagolu Thimmappa as President strived for development of the Chamber. For all his developmental works the Ex-MLAs Late Shri. Allum Karibasappa & Late Shri. T.G.Sathyanarayana Setty rendered their valuable assistance without which it would not have been successful. During 1953 to 2010, 15 eminent persons have served as Presidents and 10 persons have served as Hon. Secretaries. The present President is Shri. KAUDKI UMAPATHAPPA and Secretary is Shri. V RAVIKUMAR.
Objects of the Chamber:
*To encourage and mutual help and co-operation amongst the Business Community, Traders, Investors and Industrialists in their Commercial, Financial and Manufacturing activities to safeguard their interests by combined action.
*To promote and protect the Trade & Industry of the country in general and Bellary District in particular.
*To collect, classify and disseminate statistical and other information relating to commercial and industrial interests.
*To establish or create trust(s) or exhibition(s) either on behalf of the Chamber or in co-operation with others.
*To safeguard the interests of commercial, industrial, transport, Banking, money lending, Insurance and other allied activities.
*To affiliate to state and National Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry and consider affiliation of Chambers & Association of Merchants and others having at least in part similar to those of the Chamber and working in Bellary District.
