She Was Born on 5.12.1955, at Bellary, To Shri. C. Bhimappa Chetty and SMT. Ranghamma. Her Father Late. C. Bhimappa Chetty Was a Leading Advocate of the Bellary Bar. He was Government pleader. With this Background, Soon After She Complited B.A. Degree From Alum Sumangalamma Womeas’ College at Bellary, Joined Renukachary Law College, Bangalore and Abtained Her L.L.B Degree in the year 1977. Before joining the bar, she had an opportunity to go Round the European Countries and Stayed in England for About one year. During her stay in England, she visited the Crown Court at Durtham, U.K. then She joined the Chambers of Her Father at Bellary and Soon Made a Mark in the Profession. Incidentally, She Was the First Lady Advocate to Practice at Bellary. She Served as Legal Advisor for Several Banks, ARGO Industries, K.E.B., KMF & APMC. She Handled Several important Cases, Both on Civil and Criminal Sides During Her Practice at The Bar. Recognizing Her Merit as a Leading Lady Advocate in The State, She was Directly Selected and Appointed as First Lady District and Sessions Judge in The year 1988. She Worked as Principal District and Sessions Judge, at Kolar & Mysore and as Chief judge, Court of Small Causes and Principal Jadge , Family Court at Bangalore. It may also be mentioned that She was Sent on a Fellowship on Gender and Law in 1997 at Warwick University in England by Honourable Supreme Court of india. She is Appointed as First Lady Judge of Karnataka high Court, Bangalore. She is happyily married to Dr.C.N. Gupta, Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, at Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore and is Blessed With 2 Children. She is a Lover of Fine Arts, Particularly Music. She is a Voracious Reader and Keenly Interested in Gardening.
