Sri. H.Raghavendra

Harapanahalli Raghavendra was born in Bellary on 2nd of July 1950 as only son to the noble parents late Sri H.Ramamurthy & Smt. Sunandamma. He had his primary education in Silver Jubilee Primary School in Bellary, completed his high school education by joining Wardlaw High School where his father was working as Drawing Master. He was blessed enough to get basic skills in drawing and painting under his fathers tutelage as a drawing master along with other students.

“Truth, purity and unselfishness-wherever these are present, there is no power below or above the sun to crush the possessor thereof” the essence of these words of Swami Vivekananda as a basic qualities was inculcated in him by his beloved respected teacher namely Sri. Jaya Christa Kumar. His teachings and his exemplary qualities made Raghavendra to have good character.

Another great person Sri. J.D. Chitrashekar, a Biology teacher who not only inspired him, but he put the seed of Biology in Raghavendra which in later years grew as a tree and spread the essence of teaching Biology among his students community. He is grateful to these three great personalities who moulded him as a good teacher, good science teacher and as amateur artist.

He took his graduation in Science from Veerasaiva College, Bellary and B.Ed., Course from Kottur Swami College of Education, Bellary. Late Sri. Gangappa the Principal, of the college, asked Raghavendra to design an emblem for the college by recognizing his talents. All other lecturers appreciated his talents and encouraged him to take part in different activities.

He joined his Almamartar Wardlaw High School, Bellary as Secondary Grade Assistance in 1976. He got promoted as Graduate Science Assistant in 1988 and served this Institute with full commitment.

"Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value" let these words of Albert Einstein happens to be his watch words. In addition to his class room teaching he encouraged his students to take part in co-curricular activities. He prepared science models to his students who participated in science exhibition at district as well as state and South India level.

During his service he had conducted many quiz competitions for the students at district as well as at divisional levels. He also conducted science quiz for high school students as per instructions given by department of education (DDPI, Bellary) for the period of seven years or so. The most of the students had admired his talent of conducting quiz. During his service he prepared the beautiful tableau on the occasion of Karnataka Rajyotsava on behalf of the education department through his college for two years and got second prize for one year.

Mr.Raghavendra retired from his service after completing 33 years of yeoman service with full regard and respect to his almamarter and gained a lot of love and affection from the staff and students.

"Our deeds determine us as we determine our deeds" true to these words of G.Eliot, in recognition of his outstanding zeal and high quality of service rendered by him during the 1991 Census of India, the President of India had been pleased to confer upon him the 1991 Census Silver Medal.

After his retirement, he started to paint in various media like water colour, oil colour, acrylic, pencil work, glass painting on different subjects. Even after his retirement, he took science classes at Sri Nanda Residential School, Bellary to meet the expenses of framing his paintings and also to continue his zeal of teaching science to the students.

He conducted his first solo painting exhibition at Wardlaw PU College on 17th & 18th of Nov. 2012 which enabled citizens of Bellary to see paintings of different categories and enjoyed it very much. That exhibition was dedicated to his father late Sri.H.Ramamurthy.

He was proud enough to mention that he painted the figure of Sri Rajarajeswari painting for Shobhayathra on the occasion first Kannada Rajyotsava in 1973, when the erstwhile Mysore province was renamed as Karnataka. He also got first prize at district level art exhibition conducted by old boys association of Municipal School in 1996.

Mr.Raghavendra was awarded District level Best Science Teacher award from DDPI, Bellary.

He is blessed enough to paint Swami Vivekananda in oil paint, for Shobha Yatra on 12th January 2013, on the occasion 150th Birth Anniversary of Swamiji. He participated in “Belugu” programme of Chandana channel where he gave his opinion that science and skill of drawing are inter-related in the processes of teaching as well as in painting mutually. Some of his paintings are testimony to his esoteric knowledge in philosophy and his academic life.

His Focus and blend towards Music was identified since his childhood and tempted to learn playing Veena from his mother being his first Guru. Having an urge for higher proficiency in the art, learnt and fine tuned the skills in Veena from the great Guru, Sri. R.K.Padmanabhan of Mysore. His passion to learn music took him to frontier of graduating to Junior Level in Veena Exam. His consistency in music is recognized in and around Bellary and has given various music concerts organized by esteemed organizations like; Vishwa Hindu Parishad, ISCKON etc, all. Also a coordinator of Medha Music School, Bellary and he possesses a rich passion towards Fusion music in Veena.

Sri K.Ram Kiran’s career staunch is very interesting. He has completed his post graduation studies in management education from SIT Tumkur. He plays a lead role as an Entrepreneur who owns a jewellery outlet by name M/s.Vikram Jewellers at Bellary.

His forging hardwork of being the young and brightest Entrepreneur, he is designated as a Secretary of Bellary Jewellers Association.

He is not only recognized in the field of Business, but his interest in academics has sowed greater results by rendering the service as a Principal of Sree Guru Thipperudra College, Bellary.

Occupation; Principal Correspondent - The Hindu, renowned National daily news paper, since 1994 in Bellary.

Background:

Hails from Mattihalli family, which is known as a family of journalists. Ahiraj is the third generation journalist. Perhaps this is the only family in the country to represent The Hindu since 1930 for three generations. His grand father Mattihalli Raghavendra Rao, a freedom fighter, pleader and President of the District Congress Committee and a contemporary of Bellary’s first MP Tekur Subramanyam, was a correspondent of The Hindu and also to Samyukta Karnataka at Hospet in the district.

Later, his elder uncle late Chittaranjan, served the paper for quite a few years. After his death, M.Madan Mohan (younger uncle), served the news papers for over 45 years covering eight districts of north Karnataka and Goa besides being an authority on the elections, Panchayat Raj System, Krishna river dispute among other things.

Ahiraj’s father Mattihalli Nagaraja Rao, was also a veteran journalist. He served as the Editor of Samyukta Karnataka and was the only journalist, that too from the vernacular paper to go round the world visiting 12 countries at a stretch for a period of 105 days.

Ahiraj has been in the profession since 1984 when he, with the guidance of his father, started a journal of documentation called New Data of Karnataka. Then he took up reporting by joining The Times of India at Hubli and later joined The Hindu and working in Bellary for the past 19 years.

His cousin M. Raghava is also working as the Principal Correspondent of The Hindu based at Mangalore.

Ahiraj, during his 25 years of service in the field of journalism, has accorded priority to objective reporting and highlighting peoples’ cause, especially the plight of the farmers in the district, environmental and ecological issues, culture and tradition the rich flora and fauna in the district. Has the credit of reporting that Sirguppa and Bellary taluks were the hot spot of the Great Indian Bustards, a critically endangered species, after they were discovered for the first time near Hatcholi in Sirguppa taluk and again discovered near Raravi in Sirguppa taluk and also near Chellagurki in Bellary taluk. .

Ahiraj has also been writing about the developments at Hampi, the erstwhile seat of Vijayanagar empire, concerns expressed by UNESCO over encroachments and other developments threatening the status of world heritage site, environmental issues, plight of the tail end farmers of Tungabhadra command area, impact of siltation of Tungabhadra dam.

An ardent lover of music, art and culture, playing tabla has been his hobby and has accompanied several top class artistes including Ms. Subhadramma Mansur, renowned vocalist, Ms. Vijaya Kishore, senior most AIR and Doordarshan artiste among others.

Dr. Yashwanth Bhupal

We deem it an honour to present a very brief biographical sketch of the doyen under whose umbrella there are many schools and colleges. He is none other than the Chairman & Director of BITM, Dr.Yashvanth Bhupal, who is an apple of the eyes of Late.Sri.Sharana Basavaraja Jahagirdar and Late.Smt.Basavarajeswari, a former Union Minister.

Dr.Yashvanth Bhupal was born in Bellary on 10th day of September 1948.

As far as his collegiate studies are concerned, in 1972, he completed his B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University and in 2000, he did his M.S. in Manufacturing Engineering, from BITS, Pilani. In the year 2004, his educational aspiration reached the Zenith when he put his efforts into obtaining the doctoral thesis i.e., Doctor of Philosophy in “Business Management”.

From then onwards, his life took another turn towards his industrial experience which spanned 20 years. After his graduation in 1974, he founded integrated mini steel plant and called it “Navakarnataka Steel Ltd., Bellary and took over his capacity as Works Director and later became the Executive Director.

Dr.Yashvanth Bhupal is a real personality who stands by and goes for quality in whatever he does. As many of us know, presently, he is the Managing Trustee of Tungabhadra Education Health & Rural Development Trust ®, Bellary and also the Chairman & Director of Ballari Institute of Technology & Management, Bellary, looking after all the affairs of Basavarajeswari Group of Institutions, which is an umbrella institution.

In the year 1992, he changed his direction of his attention to the holy field of education, and started Sanjay Gandhi Polytechnic, Bellary at Basaveswara Nagar with different branches like; Mechanical Engg, Electrical & Electronics Engg., Metallurgy, Electronics & Comm. Engg, Civil Engg, Computer Science & Engg., This polytechnic was shifted to Sanjay Gandhinagar in the year 1994. He served it as the Principal for a period of Six Years and took it to the height that it got the name of ‘One of the Best Polytechnics in this region’. Now we feel proud to say that it has the first year intake of 660 students.

Subsequently, in 2002, to facilitate learning, keeping in mind the employed candidates, who are deprived of the Day College, he provided a slot by beginning Sanjay Gandhi (Evening) Polytechnic, Bellary with different branches like; Mechanical Engg, Electrical & Electronics Engg., Metallurgy.

In 1996, at the aforesaid polytechnic, a Community Polytechnic Scheme, sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India was also started. This scheme gives informal training to the helpless students and also to the students who have been left destitute. The scheme aimed at uplifting and development skills. One of the objectives of the scheme was to develop the students who belong to the backward and rural areas.

In 1997, he thought of inculcating quality in technical education and Bellary Engineering College, Bellary, was the outcome; it is now called “Ballari Institute of Technology & Management”, Bellary, which has the branches like; Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Information Science & Engineering & Biotechnology, Electrical & Electronics Engg.,

Dr.Yashvanth Bhupal has served as the Principal for a period of 13 years. Presently, he is the Chairman & Director. His major areas are development, infrastructure, academics and finance.

In 2004, he began the Post Graduate course in the branch of Computer Network Engg and in the subsequent years, there started Digital Electronics, VLSI Design & Embedded System and Design Engineering.

With the view to not leaving any stone unturned, MBA and MCA courses were also added followed by Research Centers of Chemistry, Mechanical, Physics, Mathematics and MBA.

In 2002, Bellary Industrial Training Center, Bellary, came into existence with the courses of Fitter and Electrician.

In the year 2006, this institution formed the school and college, i.e., Basavarajeswari Public School & College, at Patelnagar, Bellary with BPSC Kids Academy which teaches children from Nursery to 10th Standard based on ICSE Syllabus and presently it is one of the best schools in Bellary.

In 2008, Bellary Teachers Training Institute, Bellary was born wherein D.Ed., (Kannada Medium) is carried on.

In 2012, BPSC Pre-University College was also started with Commerce & Science streams.

In the same year, Ballari Business College, Bellary i.e., BBC added another feather to the cap of the group of institutions. BBC runs BBM & B.Com., courses.

Ladies & Gentlemen, Dr.Yashvanth Bhupal’s personality resembles the banyan tree that gives shade and shelter to the haves and have-nots. He is undoubtedly an inspiration to all, may they belong to this or forthcoming generation.

So, it is aptly said that “Experience is not what happens to a man; it is what a man does with what happens to him”.

He was born on 1st July 1955 and completed his Post Graduation in Commerce and Doctorate from Karnataka University, Dharwad.

He has to his credit the Teaching Experience of more than 18 years to MBA classes & 06 years to Post Graduation Diploma in Business Management & 06 years to BE Classes. He also had 10 years of service to CAICWA & ACS Classes.

Dr. S. Jayanna is the Co-founder of Commerce Department at Smt. Allum Sumangalamma Memorial College in the year 1979 along with the present Principal Dr. K. Tejasmurthy.

He served in the said department since inception till 1995, in between he also had served at veerashiva College, Bellary.

he joined Bellary P.G. center of Gulbarga University as a reader from 1995 to 2003 and from 2003 till date he holds the Professorship at the PG center, now being known as a Separate Universtity. Vijayanagara Sri Krishanadevaraya University, Bellary.

he served as a Special Officer at Gulbarga University P.G. Center, Bellary for 12 years, Charmain, Dept. of Management for 10 years.

As a Dean, Faculty as Commerce & Management, Gulbarga University for 02 years and as an Academic Senate Member, Syndicate Member & Placement Officer for 12 years.

He is specialized in the areas of Accounting, Finance & Strategic Management.

He has published the paper in National & International Journals & Magazines. He has guided 6 Ph.D Scholars and presently 6 Ph.D Scholars are under his guide ship.

HOSPITAL IMPROVEMENTS:

Anti-rabies Vaccine was consuming Rs.48 lakhs per annum. A new thai regimen for anti-rabies vaccine treatment was introduced after getting concurrence from WHO, ICMR, and Regional Vaccine Institute, Hyderabad. Personal for the same were trained at Hyderabad. This is saving of a whopping 36 lakhs per annum to the institution with higher end treatment also.
Drug position of the centre improved with 23 types of antibiotics, all anesthetic drugs.
Hospital out-patient, in-patient, admitting counters fully computerized.
All biochemical investigations hitherto not available introduced. ABG made available.
All four dialysis units have been put to use without a single days gap in last 8 months.

Vittala Temple

Vittala temple is the main attraction where in the musical pillers are located. There is no idol in the Vittala temple and so the stone chariot and the musical pillers are the main attraction out there. Each piller produces a very unique sound when tapped and so is the main attraction.

It was built in the 14th century by A.D.Devaraya-II and later Krishna Devaraya developed it further

Opposite to the Vittala temple there is the world famous stone car which is built out of a single hard granite rock..

On the southern side of the Vittala temple there is a kalyatana mantapa(pedestal for marriage). It was built by Krishna Devaraya in the year 1513. this is also called the mantapa of hundred legs.

In this pond there are a series of five steps at every level in every series there are six steps which increase in length and breath.on all the sides the steps are in the shape of the pyramids which goes on.
